Review of Nowhere Boy (2009) by Anirudh K — 28 Jan 2011
During the first 45 minutes, I was shocked at how boring this film was making John's pre-Beatles life out to be. However, it got better even though most of the "drama" felt contrived and over-acted.
There were some great Lennon-esque lines ("Why didn't God make me Elvis?" "He was saving you for John Lennon.") and Kristin Scott Thomas was spot on as Mimi. They sure did get the details though, right down to the clothes John and Paul were wearing at their first meeting to the songs they played for each other to George's audition on the top level of a double decker bus.
Playing "Mother" over the closing credits was a nice touch also.
