Review of Nowhere Boy (2009) by Matthew M — 04 Feb 2011
It's not a "name-that-Beatles-song" kinda movie. Really it's an honest story about John Lennon's life. It's a tragic story about a boy torn between the woman who raised him and the woman who birthed (?) him.
Obviously they fight over him. He acts out. He acts like a rockstar (think Elvis kinda rockstar). That's pretty much it. It's a great story told very well. I'm glad I saw this. It has plenty of language and sexuality.
It's very funny at moments when John just doesn't give a crap. The whole thing is very interesting and you get the occasional Beatles joke and you get to chuckle. I'd watch it on a lazy day/snow day/weekend.
Nothing too exciting, but definitely better than most of the dramas out there right now.
