Review of Nowhere Boy (2009) by Oliver J — 23 Apr 2011
If you like music and drama this is a pretty good attempt at mixing the two together. This film is the story of John Lennon's teenage years. Lennon (who is played by Aaron Johnson) is going through a tough stage of his life and two women are fighting for his love and attention, his Aunt Mimi (Kristin Scott Thomas) and his mother, Julia Lennon (Anne-Marie Duff).
The story also pictures the first time John Lennon and Paul McCartney met and it captures some of their musical passion. The film has some really great scenes in it and in my opinion Aaron Johnson does John Lennon justice.
John's mothers death is also a big twist, the movies pace and mood does change throughout, I would recommend this although it may not be everyones cup of tea!!!
