I don't know if this movie would appeal to a non-Beatles fan and I really don't care.... I mean, its a pretty well done movie and tells a great story of a young boy from a broken home who decides he wants to be the British Elvis.
.. I think maybe if it was just made up it wouldn't be nearly as compelling, but knowing you are watching the "creation" of John Lennon (and by extension The Beatles) as we know him today makes it all the better.
... its a little slow and definitely sad but pretty great overall... You start to understand why he wrote some of the best music ever made - great art is almost exclusively partnered with great pain...
