Review of Nowhere Boy (2009) by David S — 05 Jan 2012
I was hoping for something a bit more compelling from this acclaimed film but instead just got a straightforward story of Lennon's childhood before The Beatles head off for Hamburg. For those with a knowledge of this time the film throws up nothing new and all you're left with is to admire the performances of Johnson, Thomas and Duff.
They make the film interesting enough but you can't help thinking that the period after this (Hamburg and the rise of The Beatles) would make more compelling viewing and has already been addressed by a better film ('Backbeat').
