Review of Nowhere (2002) by Katie D — 05 Mar 2009
Gregg Araki dishes up another weird yet wonderful postmodern look at teen hedonism. In 'Nowhere' b-movie sci-fi meets modern art for a surreal depiction of a day in the life of one young man (the once again innocent-tainted-by-his-surroundings, James Duval).
Colour, lighting and costume are core elements to the movie and coupled with short, sharp vignettes further highlight this notion that in life there is no such thing as 'reality' - everything is open to interpretation. Look out for cameos from Heather Graham, Ryan Phillippe, Mena Suvari etc.
