Review of Now You See Me (2013) by David S — 11 Aug 2014
Now You See Me assumes itself to be far smarter and clever than it is. The actors are bland at best in their roles, which is a shame considering the cast on display. Attempting to create a story of magnificent "magic tricks", the "villains" of the story have little character development and far too much smugness.
The "hero", Mark Ruffalo, speaks nothing but clichés whilst stumbling through his scenes. Not sure if he deliberately had a speech impediment or not. This movie is barely entertaining, and has a climax that is silly and unexciting.
It tries to show itself off as something sparkly, but has no substance, no taste, and nothing new to the table. Nice try team.
