Review of Now You See Me 2 (2016) by Whereismymind — 17 Aug 2016
Just like the first installment this is a fun little movie with cool sequences that doesn't make a lot of sense. I don't think it has improved upon the first NYSM, it felt like the magic elements had been reduced and so the movie lost a bit of the original's charm. I don't think it offers a lot as a sequel, since we're left with virtually the same cliffhangers we had on the first movie. The only characters that are still interesting are the ones played by Mark Ruffalo and Morgan Freeman, the other ones offered style and not a lot of substance (except for Woody Harrelson's dumb brother, who simply left me scratching my head).
Even with it's flaws this is a watchable film that will keep you entertained for a couple hours, but don't go in expecting to be mind blown.
