Review of Now You See Me 2 (2016) by Christopher B — 10 Jul 2016
This was a decent follow-up to the original movie. The bad part is that it didn't have the big twist at the end. There is a new horseman and she isn't as good as the original played by Isla Fisher.
That's not a knock on Lizzy Caplan. She was fine. It's a knock on the writing that decided she had to be a groupie instead of an equal. In this episode we get the bad guy played by Daniel Radcliffe, the supposed son of Arthur from the first movie.
He has faked his death and has tasked the horsemen to steal a microchip that is considered too dangerous to be released. There are some decent twists and some clever turnabouts but all in all, it seemed more like an episode of Mission Impossible from the 1970's.
In fact, the ending was very similar to one of the episodes of that show. You'll leave the theater happy but still wishing it was better.
