Review of Now You See Me 2 (2016) by Ethan B — 13 Oct 2017
Now You See Me 2 follows the four horseman after fleeing from a stage show they find themselves in more trouble this time in Macau, China. They are kidnapped and forced to steal a card which can hack any computer in the world.
In this sees the majority of the cast from the first film return except for Isla Fisher who was pregnant at the time of recording. Instead Lizzy Caplan takes her place not playing the same character but filling in the role of the bad-ass woman in the horseman.
she is obviously a big fan on the four horseman so her getting do this is surreal, this often used to make jokes as she find something really cool but the others just see it as something they do everyday.
She is introduced very suddenly and the reason for Fisher leaving the group is kind of glossed over as if they want you to just kind of forget about her character, but with the next film being confirmed for 2019 maybe she might make a return and then the group will have to decide who they like best and want to keep.
The film also star Daniel Radcliffe as the antagonist, this continues the trend of the bad guy being British, something I would like to see continue into the third film. He is really funny in the role as he is meant to be this bad guy but is clearly doing it all to impress his father, waiting like a dog for his approval.
Jesse Eisenbergs character is talking to the hand by himself, which I thought fit his character as he always saw himself as the leader who was better than the other horsemen, it was interesting that they went this way with the character especially after the group being so close after the first film.
This was probably because the group disbanded and they were left in the dark for so long after the first film. The third act of this film when they are in London is honestly the best bit of the entire two films, with the ending being a total mindfuck setting up for what should be an interesting third film.
