The problem with this movie is that you would need to have followed the plot from the first movie which was convoluted and the editing of the first movie made it difficult to follow along. Having said that, I enjoyed the first movie, but didn't love it.

This movie however made sense of the first movie and was much more enjoyable and fun to watch. Having seen the second film would probably make seeing the first one more enjoyable, now that I understand the reasoning and motivation of the main characters.

Because of this confusion, I can understand why this movie got such a bad rating and low score on many of the review sites. It was however a very good movie and well done.
