A second rate Stand By Me (let's face it, movies about young ladies usually aren't well written... and that sucks - esp. when you're a young lady who enjoys movies), but I loved it just the same.
Girlfriends are sisters from another mother who will help you through anything and everything - and though this movie was cheese, coming of age stories about best friends are a cinematic staple. (I was also just about to turn 12 when this movie came out.
.. so this movie was kind of like the 1990s equivalent of Sixteen Candles, but for pre-teen girls).
