Review of Novocaine (2001) by Ingrid L — 12 Jan 2008
I spent the first part of this movie firmly holding on to the idea that I was not liking it. Then, to my utter surprise, by the end I found myself completely enjoying the silly twists and fairly predictable writing.
The direction was weak, but did enough to keep me entertained. There was that voice over that did not seem to have a purpose, but to provide a campy ending, and even Steve Martin did not seem too interested in it.
But the movie itself, the acting for the plot, was spot on from him. And the rest of the cast. I think it was the actors that pulled me in, and saved what could have been a really cool dark comedy. In the end, though, it was nothing special.
