Review of Nothing to Lose (1997) by Jim C — 08 Nov 2007
In an unintentional irony, the title of this movie sums up the reason for watching it. There's nothing you can pick out as being impressive, but the film does vaguely entertain in a knockabout sort of way and is harmless enough.
Tim Robbins plays a world-weary schmuck who takes on carjacker Martin Lawrence at his own game, and much wackiness ensues as the pair become mixed up with a couple of shady villains. There are plenty of criticisms to make; the plot only truly engages for the first 10 minutes, the comedy is generally weak and the baddies are awful, but when everything is combined it somehow forms a reasonable palatable whole.
