Review of Nothing Like the Holidays (2008) by Aaron S — 10 Feb 2011
A Chicago Puerto Rican entry in the "family gathers for a holiday and simmering tensions/ drama rise to the surface" genre. It features plenty of scenes of self-consciously ethnic banter, tables covered with home-cooked food, and dancing/ singing along with old songs.
Nice performances elevate a mostly by-the-numbers storyline.
