Review of Nothing But the Truth (2008) by Jamie H — 06 Jul 2009
Interesting, occasionally provokes an emotion, overall not-bad. Matt Dillon overacts as an attorney who's a jackass but pretends to be nice about it, but deep down really is just a jackass who apparently has nothing better to do than make life miserable for the reporter heroine. The source at the end was inevitable, and it's extremely fucking annoying when you find out, on a level you just cannot believe. The whole thing makes you realize that there was no real point for her to have gone through all of that as her source wouldn't have gotten in trouble. Nobody ever finds out who the source was, so you never get a "See? You were all wrong, not her" moment, just a "Well there she goes, back to not see her family for two more years while the world thinks that they did the right thing" moment. Her loving husband turns into a dick, her son doesn't really care about her anymore, and all because of a source that it seriously wouldn't matter if she gave up.
But everything before that's pretty good.
