If you want to be depressed about the state of the U.S. in a world of ever-decreasing rights and liberties, by all means watch this film. Otherwise, it's easy enough to be depressed without watching this movie.
It's very much "ripped from the headlines" and heavy handed in it's politicism. Great if you're into that sort of thing.
