Review of Nothing But the Truth (2008) by Minas C — 20 Mar 2010
It's a underrated political thriller which should have attracted much more attention than it did! Kate Beckinsale is absolutely convincing as the idealist reporter and delivers a breathtaking acting, while Vera Farmiga, Matt Dillon and Alan Alda deliver just as well! The scenario is based in a true story and even though the plot is much simplier, easy to follow and concentrates more in the main human factor, "Nothing but the Truth" is still as breathtaking and powerfull political thriller as "The Pelecan Brief" is.
I have to say though that there are two things I hated about it: David Schimmer (everybody would hate him for not supporting his wife through all that she went through in the movie, but I hated him mainly because having seen him in many films he hasn't convinced me he is that good of an actor. I would prefer someone else in such a movie) and the way the movie ends (even though I guess it couldn't have been otherwise since it follows a true story).
