Review of Nothing But the Truth (2008) by Michael L — 29 Jul 2009
Impressive drama, which has been undeservedly underestimated. Inspired by a similar story and the current political and media situation in the US, this movie brings enough provocative questions which are left with no answers so that we could try to answer them ourselves.
The screen presence of Vera Farmina and Kate Beckinsale is another solid reason to watch and to enjoy this movie. They are stylish, emotional, and simply fantastic, supported by Matt Dillon. Those who know Beckinsale from the Underworld franchise will be quite surprised to see her in this role, but she gives really an outstanding performance.
Personally, I enjoyed this movie a lot, due to the provocative moments in it and the ever-open question of media ethics and civil liberties, versus national security matters.
