A story of two ladies drawn together at a school with the same occupation of teaching. One an Art teacher(Sheba) and the other a history teacher(Barbara). Spirals into secrets, blackmail and a deep infactuation.

Judi Dench who plays Barbara Covett is moulded into the character. A masterful actress who gives a stunning performance. Impressive the narration she does too.

Cate Blanchett as Sheba Hart also a fine performance and a priceless tenderness in her disposition.

Again Bill Nighy is fine also as Sheba's older husband Richard Hart. The Nighy factor!

I loved the blend of music and narration, their was a real depth to the acting. English films still have the finest acting in the world, dedication and the level of seriousness and dramatic emotional turbulence is phenominal.

Was oscar nominated and Bafta nominated which gives you an idea of the gravity of the film.

As the film transpires all hell is let loose as you the clever audience may work out. I certainly did. It's gradual descent is part of the fascination. Sheba's affair with a pupil, Barbara's guidance and ultimately blackmailing her to do her will and be her romantic partner.

Also meant to be similar to :

Hard Candy.

If you like exceptionally high drama and acting with a real life story then watch this and marvel at its depiction of lives with imperfection, after all we don't live in a perfect world.
