Review of Not Without My Daughter (1991) by Kerry K — 15 Jun 2009
I really enjoyed this true life story set in the 1980's:- a woman travels with her husband and daughter to Iran to visit his family - however once there, he doesn't allow them to come back, beating her every time she tries to escape and forcing them to live within a vastly different culture.
Of course the film caused a lot of controversy for it's anti-Iranian view and if you're all for political correctness then you probably won't enjoy it as it is very one-sided. However, I thought it was extremely well-acted and very enjoyable.
