Review of Not Fade Away (2012) by Scott A — 11 May 2013

I will start by saying the main reason I wanted to see this film was for Bella Heathcote. Despite the bland Dark Shadows, she blew me away in that, and does so again here, but once again the film around her does nothing to match her. Even when her character is outed as a huge slut, you still can't stop loving her...gotta be those huge eyes.

The music in the film is great and keeps the film moving, but MOST is not original and I think that hurts the film. We don't really know if this band is any good cause most the time they are just covering other band's better songs.

Most of the actual band are either undeveloped, the bass player for example, or mostly just bland. Besides Bella or maybe Gandolfini, who has a great presence on screen despite always playing a dick, you just can't really separate who is who half the time.

And the ending was awful. They don't explain the main relationship, they don't explain what happened to the band and it ends with a minor character go-go dancing in the middle of the street for no good reason. It's like instead of actually ending the film, they just cut it out, stuck in this dance number and gave us all the middle finger.
