Review of Not Cool (2014) by Charles J — 15 Jan 2015
I found myself really excited to see this film, just because my favorite comedian Drew Monson is in it, but I got out of it what I expected. The jokes were, for the most part, appalling and not funny, but there were parts of the movie that I couldn't help but like.
Drew Monson's performance was spectacular most of the time as well as his female counterpart Michelle Veintimilla. Shane Dawson's performance was by far the most boring throughout the whole movie, but I really enjoyed the scene where he cut his hair because it felt like a really genuine scene.
The reason I could never give this movie a rating over two stars, despite having three pretty good actors (Cherami, Drew, and Michelle), is because Shane Dawson's vision of a film showed how racist, insensitive, immature, and sexist he is.
He took a mature script and made it into something a junior in high school would think of. And to top it all off, he made a rape joke. I hope Drew, Cherami, and Michelle can find some better work after involving themselves in this film.
