To paraphrase the bard - I come not to praise Shane Dawson - but I don't think we should bury him just yet.

While this movie is not great, it is good.

I laughed out loud a bunch. I also groaned quite a bit. The cinematography feels mundane and the final product is disorganized.. It needs some polish on the script or maybe a different edit.

Despite the movie's failings, Dawson is saying something important here about the emotional hollowness of the internet generation. That message gets muddled in Not Cool but I'm interested to hear what he might have to add later in his career.
