Review of Nostalgia (1983) by Chase _ — 01 Sep 2008
Gorgeous cineamatography and mystical atmosphere cannot save this heavy handed philosophical nonsense for its own seriouness. Erland Josephson is good as always, but otherwise the actors cannot seem to connect with the material and they are left wandering in the old ruins and mumbling their long monologues about memories and beliefs they have.
End result is frustrating to watch. But at least it is handsome.
