Review of Nostalgia (1983) by Bojana B — 28 May 2007
It actually was made in 1983 but that is unimportant. Rather than calling it Poetry, it is better to think of this movie as a moving painting. Tarkovsky takes Italy and makes it Russia. Every time Domiziana Giordano is in frame Tarkovsky paints the Madonna so well that the Dutch masters have to make room for a ruskie.
