Review of Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979) by Jesse W — 02 Sep 2007
This is often called a remake of Murnau's "Nosferatu", and I don't think I will ever understand why. At most, I'd say part of the film was inspired by Murnau's. That being said, Klaus Kinski gives another excellent and heart-breaking performance as the lonely vampire who longs to be human.
The only thing that I feel hurt the film was the lack of chemistry between Isabelle Adjani and... well, everyone she talks to. Isabelle is a great actress, I just never believe her in this role. Bruno Ganz does a fine job and Roland Topor is a fantastic Renfield.
The ending is refreshing, surprising and very funny.
