Review of Nosferatu (1922) by Ethan S — 24 Oct 2009
Nosferatu really isn't about the scares. It's more about the creeps. However, it's atmosphere, it's mood, it's disturbing lead performance, and it's brisk pacing all add up to a consistent, but building feeling of dread throughout the film.
Several of Murnau's edits are absolutely brilliant, and the way he's able to thread together the narrative in two or three different locations simultaneously is truly remarkable.
