Review of Nosferatu (1922) by Jillian S — 13 Sep 2010
An all time classic, that was thought completely destroyed by the Stoker family, over copyright (though thankfully one print survived). Max Schreck has to be the most, intense and scary actor to ever play opposite and rumour has it that he was in fact, the real deal.
The cast and crew were certainly spooked by his real life antics, explored in 'Shadow of a Vampire' but a perfect role was given to him (here) on a plate, by the German experimental director, F.
W. Murnau. Germanic art in the 20's was all about realism and this almost ancient horror is still capable of giving an unsuspecting viewer the proverbial creeps.
