Review of Nosferatu (1922) by Russell G — 27 Nov 2011
This silent film borrows heavily from Bram Stokerâ(TM)s Dracula which is not a bad idea, after all it is an amazing book, but this movie felt rushed. The silent format didnâ(TM)t hurt the filmâ(TM)s effectiveness but massive plot cuts and failure to unfold in a way that maximizes the suspense leaves me wanting more.
I admit it is a triumph in the history of film, but has not translated as well as the critics say 4 generations later. To itâ(TM)s credit, it seems no on has done a sufficient job of breathing the life to Bram Stokerâ(TM)s Dracula and realizing the true potential in film form.
