Review of Nosferatu (1922) by Alli A — 22 Aug 2012
A silent classic uses camera angles and shots with great effect. There are not many scenes in history as memorable as Nosferatu coming through Hutter's door as he tries to sleep, the shots of him coming closer are truly nightmarish.
Another scene here Hutter opens the coffin only to discover Nosferatu inside, as though dead and recoils in horror. The film is full of love as Hutter tries to get back to his wife and save her from Nosferatu only to have her sacrifice herself for him.
A film that does not age and continues to terrify even after ninety years. It remain a truly remarkable picture and one of the best vampire films of all time.
