Review of Nosferatu (1922) by Anthony L — 07 Oct 2012
Releasing only 6 years after The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Noseratu: A Symmphony of Horror is an obvious improvement: a landmark in the evolution of horror films. With a great actor in the lead role as Nosferatu, the 1922 German horror films still manages to send chills down the spines of audiences.
Although I have not seen Vampyr (will get it on Criterion Collection soon), I must say that this is one of the greatest silent horror films. It is safe to say that this is one of the greatest films of the the 1920's: showing major improvement in special effects, acting and the ability to keep viewers entertained.
Though it may not scare the avid horror film viewer, it set the pace and story for modern vampire films.
