Review of Nosferatu (1922) by Adam B — 22 Jan 2013
"A symphony or horrors." F.W. Murnau's unsettling flick truly depicts fear at its core. Utter silence and rare wordplay make Nosferatu a chilling '20s classic. In many ways it's merely a story being told, one of werewolves and vampires and all of that supernatural stature our modern age has come to scoff at the sight of.
Shot after shot Nosferatu is a discommoding lurch that gets under your skin, crawling and crawling. Its lack of gore and reliance on crafty visual camera work shows a brooding monster away in its castle perch, awaiting depraved panic and a sole chance of escape.
Nosferatu is one that will forever haunt you,fear-mongering or not.
