Review of Norwegian Wood (2010) by Niek S — 04 Feb 2011
While not a by-the-numbers adaptation of Haruki Murakami's novel, the movie maintains the novel's atmosphere and brings its characters to life. With strong, naturalistic performances, beautiful cinematography and high production value, I was surprised this was a Japanese production.
But it turned out to be too good to be true-it was directed by Vietnamese filmmaker, Anh Hung Tran. May be inaccessible to someone who has never read a Murakami novel, however.
