Review of Norwegian Wood (2010) by Nate A — 11 Jun 2011
A good adaptation of the Murakami novel as a young Japanese student copes with love and loss in 1960s Japan. Beautifully shot and a great score by Johnny Greenwood. This was a tricky book to adapt (even if it is the only Murakami book even remotely filmable) but they did a good job. Everything is pretty much in the movie and most of the dialogue is taken verbatim.
I think this is one I really need to watch again after re-reading the book in order to better articulate my feelings, but it's a lovely, if very sad, film.
