For some reason I just love these "man against the mountain" stories. and this one has it all - competition, bad weather, blood, frozen limbs (too many to count), bad decisions, failed equipment (and an annoying side unrequited love story).
there is a quote about the ocean which could equally apply to mountains - they will purr and rub against your legs but in an instant they will snap your back and wipe the blood from their lips as if nothing happened.
