Review of North Country (2005) by Michael K — 15 Jan 2008
The telling of the first sexual harassment claim against an employer in the world isn't the posh toff getting rejected by dolly bird with brains that you'd expect but the tale of some female miners in Minnesota.
It's a bit of a mix really with some great landscape cinematography serving to highlight the solitude and unwelcoming reaction the women get from their male colleagues, whilst the acting carries a relatively orthodox script through to the court room climax with a bit of Dead Poet's Society thrown in.
Does what it says on the tin and throws in a decent soundtrack on top.
