Review of North Country (2005) by Greg K — 18 Jan 2009
I get a lot of slack for liking this film so much, but I just can't help it. I was really moved by the story of a Lori Jenson, the woman who worked at an iron mine and eventually led a sexual harassment lawsuit against the company.
Charlize Theron is probably why the reason I loved this movie so much and helped get this film on my Top 10 for 2005, because she really goes all out and delivers such a enrichingly deep performance as Lori.
And Richard Jenkins pops up with a great supporting performance as her father. I do feel that it may go to far into melodrama at times, particularly in the final courtroom scene. But still, this movie grabbed me and got me to buy in it anyway.
