Review of North by Northwest (1959) by Eduardo T — 05 Jun 2012
A good flick but to tell you the truth I was a little disappointed. More like half a star disappointed. I had fun but it seemed like something was missing. It was a little to fast paced for my liking, especially at the end.
But then again it was a thriller. But I have to say the subject matter and the idea was very well put together. The plane scene along with the Mount Rushmore scene at the end where great. No doubt it gave many filmmakers ideas and inspiration for decades to come.
Having said that the writing was okay. Great choice of pace. Their weren't any great one liners but the okay writing lies in the scene setting and story. The direction was good. Great camera angle choices especially in that plane scene.
Decent cinematography. The production values where amazing. That Mount Rushmore looked sort of realistic. You could tell it was fake at times, especially when they where on it. The acting is where I was a little conserved.
It could have been better especially in a film that could have had so much emotion. That small romance plot was okay as well. I would recommend this to anyone that likes fun, suspenseful, and overall great films.
By the way, this was supposed to be Hitchcock's last film. I'm so glad it wasn't. *Cheers in a cheesy manner*.
