Review of North by Northwest (1959) by Damon S — 16 Oct 2010
Alfred Hitchcock's most entertaining piece of art. This whole movie was such a different take for a Hitchcock movie and I loved every minute of it. For a 50's movie it sure it ahead of it's time, or at least of all those corny 007 Bond sequels.
North By Northwest is the father figure of the Bond franchise, and the series as a whole has a lot of credit to give this movie. This film sparked many other spy-adventure type movies that still go on nowadays.
Such examples include: The Bourne Series, Salt, and of course the hugely disappointing recent Bond flick, Quantum of Solace. The pacing of this movie is perfect, the love interest if highly attractive, and Cary Grant carries such suave and adventure it's just a joy to watch.
And let's not forget Bernard Herrmannâ??s magnificent adventure soundtrack that makes the action of this contemporary motion picture complete state-of-the art.
