Review of North by Northwest (1959) by Dan M — 22 Nov 2010
After the disappointing failure of the brilliant perfect Vertigo which at the time of its release wasn't a huge success with critics or audiences, Hitchcock wanted to get the audiences back with the brilliant suspense action film North by Northwest.
Cary Grant one of Hitch's favourite leading men stars in this fun thrilling film about an ad exec who through a case of mistaken identity goes on the run across the country after he is wrongfully accused for a murder.
He uncovers a web of intrigue of an evil crime syndicate led by the sophisticated suave James Mason. The crop dusting sequence, Mount Rushmore this film has everything. Eva Marie Saint is gorgeous and intriguing as the leading lady.
Bernard Herrmann's score also plays an integral part in this film.
