Review of North by Northwest (1959) by Paul C — 24 Apr 2011
North By Northwest if a film that just throws you into the situation with literally no setup, just like the character. There are of course the classic set pieces and the great performances (Grant is suave perfection in the leading mans role and Eva Marie Saint sexy and assured in the leading womans role).
The film plays out much like an upmarket Bond (no offense to the Bond films) and Hitchcocks direction brings out the films mysteries and suspense, feeding the audience slowly, patiently and perfectly.
