Review of North by Northwest (1959) by Jard M — 02 Aug 2011
Watching North by Northwest reminded me of today's action spy movies. It's odd that a movie that odd can still be modernly relevant. You could seriously watch it today and not feel left out. Honestly, if done right, they could a great remake of this.
North by Northwest is one of Hitchcock's movies to feature a bit more action as it's not the same kind of thriller like Rear Window or Psycho. It features some great scenes that have now been parodied countless amounts of times.
I think the movie would have been controversial at the time for the relationship between Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint as it's assumed that they sleep together and they're not married which I believe was a big no-no at that time.
Seriously though what's with movies from back then and old guys with young attractive women, Rear Window anyone? It's not a problem with the movie just something I noticed. North by Northwest is another Hitchcock classic and worths seeking if you haven't seen it.
