Review of North by Northwest (1959) by Huseyn B — 26 Nov 2012
Roger Thornhill, an advertising company employee, is mistaken for a spy organization of a double agent Kaplan. At the same time, being chased by the police on suspicion of murder, which of course he did not commit, Thornhill falls in love with a girl named Eve, it turns out that is not who she claims to be.
Even the plot is clear that this band - "the quintessential Hitchcock comedy-thriller genre" (according to the precise definition of the American critic Leonard Moltina). For some reason, we considered hard master "horror movies", Alfred Hitchcock was able to amuse the audience ironic playing awkward situations that fall innocent heroes, forced at one's own risk yourself get out of a difficult situation, trying to justify the law. The third (after the "Psychosis" and "windows to the yard") income-picture of the director makes sure that the genealogy of the first series of "James Bond" is, in particular, and on the "spy tapes" Hitchcock, in which agents amateurs wanting survive or to save loved ones, passing upset malicious machinations of criminal gangs, tear carefully woven network of espionage.
Cary Grant, one of the favorite actors Alfred Hitchcock appears in his typical role "reluctant adventurer," the latter-day knight who overcomes own "fear and reproach." That spilbergovsky Raiders also focused on this character, escape from the bustle of city life for a dangerous adventure away from home, in this case, as in Hitchcock, the path of the train to Chicago, and then in the town of Mount Rushmore memorial. Beaten ingeniously nature and man-made architectural and sculptural ensembles, the masterful scene absurd hunting aircraft for lonely, vulnerable man in the middle of a bare space (in the making of the film involved a famous Hollywood special effects master Arnold Gillespie) confirm once Hitchcock original formalism, which is always surprising and innovative solution . It is no accident that many of his techniques and artistic discoveries have become classics, quoted in the mass shamelessly mindless crafts and more original used in the works of these directors.
