North by Northwest is one of the best representations of Hitchcock film-making. Mystery, suspense, chases and memorable sequences as well as another great performance by Cary Grant and the suave James Mason in the villain role.
this film is among the filmmaker's best not only because at this point he seemed to have reached a comfortable height of creativity but also due to the use of original ideas which broaden the appeal of the usual wrong man on the run plot.
