Review of North by Northwest (1959) by Rob C — 01 Sep 2013
Quite possibly the most entertaining picture ever made, thanks to a fruitful collaboration between Hitchcock and Screenwriter Ernest Lehman. Cary Grant is perfectly cast as Roger Thornhill, a cocky, suave advertising exec mistaken for a government agent.
Lehman's script is so full of plot twists and clever dialogue that the film doesn't seem long at Two hours and sixteen minutes. For years after the film was completed cast members would run into each other and recall how everything seemed to work when making the film.
A must see for filmmakers and Imperative for aspiring screen writers.
