Review of North by Northwest (1959) by Kevin J — 29 Mar 2014
Really good film here that makes it easy to see why it gets all the praise it does. Cary Grant does a great job and makes for a really enjoyable lead in this film as you really feel the exasperation with his situation that his character feels. The thrills were certainly there in this one, helped out a lot by the twists and turns throughout that really helped to elevate the film.
My main problem with this one is that Eva Marie Saint's acting is not always up to snuff. There are moments when it is entirely cringe worthy. Also, maybe this is because this one is so old, but the plot became slightly predictable and cheesy. Not to a large degree, of course, but enough where it was worth mentioning. Regardless, this one was really enjoyable and very entertaining.
