Review of Noroi: The Curse (2005) by Toribio H — 28 Nov 2017
This is what western horror almost never gets. When the audience is effectively coerced to imagine the horrors that are just around the corner that's when the viewers are truly horrified. None of those wispy CGI stuff.
This found footage film is full of creepy and unsettling images rationed at few critical points helping in anchoring the film to reality as opposed to a fantasy (unbelievable) all-out fright fest. The film delves deep into history, folklore, tradition, gossip and the like that kind of makes you wonder if there was ever any stock into those urban legends you've heard about.
