Review of Nope (2022) by Jacksonmeta — 26 Jul 2022
I mean, as a standalone film it's fine I guess, but as a Jorden Peele film, it's easily his worst. The tension and build-up amount to nothing in one of the least satisfying endings I've seen in awhile.
Also the film takes plenty of story detours that try as I might, could not find any significant link back the main plot. Acting is pretty good, and humor is okay (very much caters go Gen Z "swear to show you care" mentality.
And as a Gen Z myself, I hate it), and the alien design is EASILY the best part of the movie due to how otherworldly it feels, but I just can't get over what a lukewarm ending that was. If you want some dumb fun, then yeah, I'd recommend seeing it, and even as a Jorden Peele film, it's not AWFUL, but it just isn't anything special at all, which I was very disappointed by.
