Review of Non-Stop (2014) by Barneyonmt — 06 Mar 2016
WHAT I LIKED: The core asset to this film is the mystery, and how tension is built so well. You really don't know what's going to happen, and it grips you more than you might expect. But this is only possible because you care for the lead - which you do thanks to a fleshed-out character and a great performance from Liam Neeson. It's pretty gritty, edge-of-the seat film making.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The edge of your seat stuff is all well and good, but when the tension is finally released, the ending is pretty poor. Whilst you can suspend disbelief for the bulk of the movie, the appalling CGI and cringey final 20 minutes will leave you feeling that the excellent build up was a little bit wasted.
VERDICT: It's a truly gripping and occasionally moving film until the end, where it kind of falls apart.
